Natural Reserve
Country Delights is located in the department of Baja Verapaz, municipality of Purulha, and was recognized as a Private Nature Reserve by resolution of the National Council of Protected Areas (CONAP) No. 106/2001.
Within its distinctive features are part of the Cloud Forest Biological Corridor, habitat of endemic and threatened flora and fauna species (including the quetzal) and the origin of several water births.

The area has an 800-meter path that runs through part of the mountain and two viewpoints where you can see native plants such as horsetail, orchids, bromeliads; also amphibians, insects, squirrels, birds, including the quetzal if you are very lucky.
Along the way you will find interpretive signs of the different vegetation on the path and its medicinal or ornamental uses.
The average rainfall is 1,080 mm and the average temperature is 17 degrees Celsius.
Flora: It has a high rate of endemism of bromeliads and orchids, there is a significant remnant of horsetail or equisetum (Equisetum arvense), which has great potential as a medicinal plant.
Fauna: Within the insects, the presence of a nocturnal hummingbird is reported. A study of fireflies reports the presence of 10 species of the genus Photuris, Phaelonis, Bicellonycha, Photinus and Aspisoma (Schuster, 2002). There are also frogs and salamanders and some snakes, and mammals such as raccoons, tepezcuintles, armadillos, mountain cats, squirrels, howler monkeys, kids, deer, bats, and cotuzas.
There is also a shallow cave with three chambers where stalagmites and stalactites of different sizes and heights are found where religious ceremonies are held and during the night you can see the exit and entrance of the fruit bats.
The private reserve of Country Delights is made up of a lush forest, which is a natural refuge for a variety of wild animals, plants and trees that have decided to stay in this place, and which is taken care of and reforested by its owners, for their delight. He has made a path to travel in about 45 min. and in this way to be able to take a reassuring walk.
